1984

O'Brien's passage is important in many ways with the story. 1984 was like a normal society except everything went just right. The party people ruled all, they had say over everyone. The only thing that really kept people on their heals about obeying these people was that they didn’t know what they would do to them if they didn’t listen to them. Everything was ran by oligarchical collectivism, this basically meant that the party people had told everyone what to and how to live in the society. Now when I started to realize what was really going on, I thought to myself, this proles/low class people are just letting these higher class/party people walk all over them and who knows they might not do anything if you stepped out of line. It was like the proles wanted to live their lives this way because they had no idea of any other way. Who knows maybe they could of chose a different way of living and not lived like a slave but then again maybe they had no choice. The whole fate part here really has my head boggled. This whole situation was really the only thing I understood from the book. Towards the end Winston starts to see himself living normal. But O'Brien put it in a way that Winston has to be able to understand who he really is in the real world and how to act. In my eyes this would be a pretty tough task for any human to do, take Shawshank Redemption for example. Its a jail movie and one of the very older guys gets released from jail after being in there for mostly his whole life and he hits the real world and is lost and dazed everyday. He gets his self a job an apt too occupy himself but nothing cuts it because he’s used to doing the same thing everyday in prison, the old man hangs himself and says enough is enough. So I totally agree with O'Brien here about Winston really understanding what he has to do when everything starts coming normal to him. For Winston to go through this the easiest way is he just has to take things has they come and deal with them, if he tries to fight little problems everything will pile up on someone like him and he wont know what to do with life and he will end up just like the old man I told you about. So more towards the end of the story he realized what needed to be done and totally took over him and loved Big Brother. He let society get into him, after that he was very comfortable with it. After all of that he stopped fighting them and joined with them. With this happening the society was able to become an oligarhical collectivism and this cause the people to only believe what the party believed was the truth. All the people in this crazy society were for it and no one put up a fight they all joined and supported theses words..... “War is peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength” this is the slogan that the society was made around. To me this is where I started to get very confused because all these little people were happy that they were slaves basically and had no lives. They all agreed on just agreeing to just all be together and fight with the party people and not against. The reason why this boggles my mind is probably the same reason in anyone else mind. WHY WOULD ANYONE WANT SOMEONE ELSE RUNNING THEIR LIFE. I mean its your life for Christ sake. The only thing that I can think of is that, in today’s world there is none of this, there is no slavery or people running people for every beckon thing. But then again look at today’s world the crime rate is outrageous, maybe this is what really kept people in check in those times. In conclusion 1984 was a serious novel yet very confusing to me but I learned two things from it. One always fight first for something you want and if it cant workout then work through it. The second thing I learned is that I can get life lessons from reading novels that I don’t even understand......C'ya later 1984

Free Write Of 1984

What I got out of 1984 was mainly about the different types of classes there are and were back then. I really took this into my knowledge because I can relate to it from living with it everyday. In todays world that I live in there are still different social classes and it still goes pretty much the same way. The low class now a days is just different from the proles in one way. The proles had nothing, worked, and did the samething everyday and couldnt really change there lives for the better. Where as the low class now a days is different because some people dont even work, some work and do illegal jobs on the side, and basicly they all just try to get more then what they can have.
All people should really take this lesson into consideration because it can effect anyone in any social class. You should just take things how they are if you have a job and you have certain hours and certain pay, take them hours and pay until YOU earn a raise or get moved up. If people took this in more easily and accepted the fact that they can only have what there given at that time and have to earn more money perhaps. I believe if this was done then our world today would cut down heavily on the crime rate. This goes for everywhere in the world.
