Kubla Khan

1.This poem was rather difficult  for me to read and I really didnt get the jist of it so Im just gona write about what I got from the poem. The only thing I really noticed from Coleridge was that they used visual imagery to describe what was going on through the poem such as when they were talking about the place to envision. This brought an image to my head about where and what they were looking at. Some other things that I thought about was the way the garden looked. This is really the only thing that held my attention because I had no idea what was going on throughout the poem. So without the visual imagery that he showed off to me I wouldnt of understood anything and just would of been reading words. If I was to write a complicated poem like Kubla Kahn I would also use visual imagery like Colridge to hold the readers attention especially for people like me.

2. The only thing I got from Ozymandias was that it was about a statue called Ozymandias and it was destroyed. This idea/topic was described by the people in poem, they also described how depressed this made everyone because of the love they had for the statue and because it really meant a lot to them. I couldnt figure out why this meant soo much to this people.

The Chimmney Sweeper

1.I agree with the editors of the textbook that Blakes writings both have the power to enact to the imagination to the reader. The Chimney Sweeper from The Songs of Innocence gave me more of a visual of what the poems were about because simply how it was written. Throughout the whole poem it explained what was going on and I didnt find myself lost one time. Where as when I read The Songs of Experience it really didnt tell me much or show me anything that caught my eye to understand the poem better then I already had from reading the The Songs of Innocence. Even though they both were from different points of views they did resemble each other. The Songs of Innocence was both happy and sad because they talk about the boys being out down to work like slaves then they have a dream about heaven and it brings happiness to the boys and it also made me feel not as bad for the boys. The Songs of Experience wasnt happy at all.

2.I think the Parliment transcript was put to show that kids working at a young age is a serious problem.( Child Labor Law). After everyone read these poems all of us as student should take into consideration how lucky we all are as kids that we never were worked like these boys and kids were worked. This just made it clear how tough these kids had it everyday and never got easier. If the Parliement transcript wasnt added Id been confused about the whole child labor law but still would have relized that these kids worked their tails off and it just wasnt fair back then.

Jonathan Swift Teacher PREP

A question that I am mainly focusing on isnt about what happens during the story but it has to do with the the main idea that I got out of it. My question is: do people really think before they act or speak. If you were confused onn your answer it should be NO. Now the reason why this question came across my mind was because through out the story there wasnt anything that crossed my mind that I didnt understand or if I didnt understand something it was minor. As I read the story I defintly couldnt predict the way Gulliver was going to act, put yourself in his shoes if that was me and knowing the way I am I would have went nuts when they let me slightley free think about your a big giant to these people, Id feel unstopable. This is when I started to actully learn something from reading this. When they let Gulliver up a little bit he thought about going crazy on the lilaputions but he looked at what he had in front of him and slowed his mind down and just settled with them. Even though settling with them wasnt really all that bad (actully it seemed really nice) he still showed that he considered and thought before he acted. Who knows if he didnt think before he went crazy then he might have been in a worst situation then he was and like I said the situation that he eventually put hisself in wasnt bad at all its very nice if ya asked me. Who wouldnt want a whole bunch of little people running around for ya and feeding you . As you can see its obvious what I'm going to focus on while I'm teaching my other teacher group. If you havent recognized I am goin to mostly stress about people in todays world thinking before they act. I will follow that up with some examples such as criminals walking around the streets with guns who kill people, if these people had a normal brain they would think before they pull that trigger. This clearly would slow down the crime rate all over the world. In conclusion I really had a strong focus while reading this story was happy with what I came out with wether it makes sense or it doesnt.
